Registration Issues
If you are having connection issues with our server or problems registering Math Mechanixs, please see the possible reasons below.
There are several major reasons why you may be having difficulty registering Math Mechanixs. Generally, the reason is directly related to the inability of the License Manager Utility to connect to the Math Mechanixs License Server, which could happen for several reasons:
You do not have the latest version of Math Mechanixs installed.
The Math Mechanixs License Server is temporarily down or busy.
Your anti-virus software is restricting your internet connections and TCP/IP communication.
Your corporate network firewall is restricting your internet connections and TCP/IP communication.
Your home wireless network is restricting your internet connections and TCP/IP communication.
Occasionally we need to modify our license management system for security reasons, which could result in the inability for an older version of the License Manager to connect to our licensing server. If you are running an out of date version of Math Mechanixs, check the latest version posted on the Download Page and click the "Download Math Mechanixs" link to install the latest version.
If the Math Mechanixs License Server is busy or down, this is generally a very temporary situation. We have redundant servers online at any given time to enhance overall system reliability (the License Manager is designed to automatically attempt a connection to one or the other depending on availability). However, on rare occasions one or both of these servers could be down for a variety of reasons including power outages, hardware failures, or maintenance. If we need to bring these servers down for maintenance simultaneously and for an extended period of time, we will generally post a message on this web page. If you have reviewed reasons 2, 3 and 4 below and still can not connect to the License Server, and you suspect that our License Servers are down, please Contact Us.
If your anti-virus software is restricting the License Manager from connecting to the internet, generally your anti-virus software will warn you that the License Manager is attempting to gain access to the internet when you are registering the software (NOTE: this does not mean that Math Mechanixs or the License Manager has been infected or carries any viruses, if you are concerned with this possibility, several independent sources have tested Math Mechanixs for viruses, see the bottom of the Download Page for details). Usually, the anti-virus software will give you an option to either allow access or not. In order to complete your registration, you must allow the License Manager access to the internet. If you receive no warning or notification from the anti-virus software, but still suspect that this could be the problem, you may need to manually configure your anti-virus software to allow the License Manager access to the internet.
If you are operating on your companies local area network (LAN) and verified that your anti-virus software is not restricting your internet connections (see reason 2 above), it is possible that your LAN is restricting your access to the internet and the TCP/IP communication by the Math Mechanixs License Server utility. In this case you should discuss this with your system administrator to verify that this is or is not the problem. If it is, it may be possible for the system administrator to give your specific computer temporary access allowing you the opportunity to register Math Mechanixs. If he/she is unable or unwilling to give you access, you can register Math Mechanixs by e-mail. See the E-mail Registration Page for more information.
If you are operating on a small home or office network with a wireless router, it is possible that the router has been configured to block particular TCP/IP ports or computers on the network. Typically, these routers are not preconfigured to restrict access and must be specifically configured by the user after installation. However, if you find this to be the case, you must change the router configuration to give your computer unrestricted access to the internet for a temporary basis while you register Math Mechanixs using the License Manager. Alternatively, you can Register by E-mail.
If after reviewing this information you are still unable to register Math Mechanixs or have more specific questions, please Contact Us.
